Service to Newcastle Island and Harbour Tours

NEWCASTLE ISLAND FERRY SERVICE

Starting on Friday, May 18th the Newcastle Ferry will be running daily between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Note to Campers:  We do have a couple of carts on the dock that you can borrow to help you carry your camping equipment and supplies down to the dock from the parking lot.  (These carts do not go on the ferry with you.)

Our ferry operates on a 30 minute schedule leaving the Maffeo Sutton Dock on the hour and half hour (e.g. 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.) and the Newcastle Island dock on the quarter and three-quarter hour (e.g. 9:15 a.m., 9:45 a.m., etc.)

2012 Fares (round trip)

  • Adults $9
  • Seniors $8 
  • Children (12 and under) $5
  • Infants (under 1 year) Free

All our sailings are dog friendly!  Dogs are permitted to ride on the ferries at no additional charge on condition that no one already on board is allergic or fearful of dogs (dogs must be on a leash when on board).

PLEASE NOTE:  Transporting equipment (i.e. camping gear, bicycles, etc.) will add the following additional charges:

  • Bicycle Return – $1.00
  • Stroller, Wheelchair, Walker – Free
  • Kayak Return (must fit on the ferry) – $2.00
  • Camping Equipment (luggage, coolers etc. per person) – $2.00
  • Groups of 26 or more pay a flat rate of $50.00 for their equipment and supplies.  (This is in addition to the individual fares.)

These charges are applied to each person age 13 and over.  There is no charge for anything that you can carry on and safely hold on your lap.  It is at the discretion of the captain as to whether or not it is safe for you to do this.

Are you a frequent traveller to Newcastle Island?  If you are, ask your captain about our “Annual Pass” and our ‘HOP’ cards.  They can be a great way to save some money.

Nanaimo Harbour Tour Fares:

  • Adults – $22*

  • Seniors (65 or over)- $20*

  • Students (13 to 19, with student ID) – $20*

  • Children (ages 12 and under) – $10*

  • Baby (under the age of 1 year) – Free*
