It’s “Anchors Aweigh” as your Nanaimo Harbour Ferry sets sail on the waters surrounding Nanaimo’s harbourside communities. Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada is one of the world’s premiere vacation spots, where visitors find a treasure chest full of recreational activities.
Our maritime heritage lives on today as local residents and visitors enjoy sailing, boating, world renowned scuba diving, kayaking, and, best of all, marine tours aboard a Nanaimo Harbour Ferry.
Nanaimo District Museum, situated on the waterfront in the heart of downtown, brings history to life with its fascinating depictions of early coastal living on Vancouver Island from European, Chinese and First Nations’ perspectives. Visit the Nanaimo Bastion, the most endearing symbol of the Harbour City and the only remaining, original Hudson’s Bay Company Bastion left in North America. The Bastion is open every day from 10 am to 3 pm during June, July and August with limited hours in May and September. Call the Museum at 250-753-1821 for more info.
A Nanaimo Harbour Ferry is definitely not like a BC Ferry or any other ‘passenger’ ferry. Those other ferries are BIG and they carry cars, trucks and busses. Nanaimo Harbour Ferries are small and cute ‘tiny tugs’ that do only 5 knots on the water and they carry only people!
